Updated Portfolio

May 10th, 2009

Today is a day for shameless self promotion. Had a fun day of a full moon hike last night. Unfortunately it was completely overcast so no full moon was seen. Nevertheless I did end up getting some great shots of a mamma spider carrying her eggs and marshmallows roasting in the fire. Today while recovering from the excursion I decided that my portfolio was looking a little bare!

ANTS!!!

May 1st, 2009

From the original article:

“Two harvester ants (Pogonomyrmex rugosus) from adjacent nests engaging in ritual warfare, pushing in a display of force but not actually harming each other. It is thought that colonies use these mock battles to gather information about their neighbors. Knowledge about the strength of competing colonies helps ants set territorial borders without loss of life.”

Lions of the Masai Mara

Lions of the Masai Mara, photographed using a remote camera. Just love their inquisitive expressions on camera. Can’t wait to try that with my new Mumford Time Machine :) .

Its Spring, get your cameras and get out! (II)

April 26th, 2009

Blue Jay, originally uploaded by BFocused.

Don’t let spring showers give you a reason to stay in. This was taken shortly after such a shower at central park. I have never seen so many varieties of birds there as I did after the rain. I guess the free worm buffet sign is a big crowd pleaser. Its a magical atmosphere with the rain causing the color saturation and the thinning of the crowds ;)

Its Spring, get your cameras and get out!

It was all Yellow, originally uploaded by BFocused.

Its Spring, and that means color and life every where. I’ve been using my canon 100mm macro as my walk around lens. It helps fill the frames, while avoiding the harsh sun.

Acrobats in the Market

April 24th, 2009

These days rarely are we camera less. I was walking through Chelsea Market when I saw a bunch of acrobats, well acrobatting inside the market. I have seen some strange and random things in New York but now that I have a camera in my phone, I will be able to prove to my psychiatrist once and for all that I am not seeing things.Maybe I will see some elephants juggling next time.

Finding Zen in a busy city

April 23rd, 2009

Now where did I keep my head, originally uploaded by BFocused.

You can find nature in the most unexpected places. You don’t need to go on a safari to get that wow wildlife shot. You can create your own little world just by how you frame something.

This picture was taken on a nice spring evening in central park. Crowded and touristy, but that’s not what this photo says. This is a photo of how I wished it to be :)
