About

Pholistic.com is my attempt to help fellow photographers online. I am a computer scientist by profession, spending the working hours developing websites. Even though I work with colors and layouts throughout the day, it lacks the freedom of creative composition. That is why turn to photography in my spare time.
My infatuation with photography started in college during a course in its composition and development. During those times digital imaging was still new and I was using a borrowed film camera. The film SLR provided me a lot more control over my images than any of my point and shoots had ever allowed for. But the thing that surprised me the most was the difference in quality the development process made. Developing each individual image in the dark room compared to the mass developed images I had been used to. Spending hours brooding over each image trying to get the white balance just right, helped me realize the appreciation for its correctness.
Few years back I purchased my first digital SLR, and found the tools provided to digital photographers to surpass greatly the ones available for film, but in most respects the concepts remain the same. The advantage of not maintaining a darkroom in a tiny appartment is also an added benefit. Digital photography has vastly increased the number of photographers and vastly increased the number of pictures we are taking and sharing. Just take a peak at the number of photos uploaded to flickr.com every minute. With so many photographs being taken, not every one has the time and resources to get the most out of their photos. Many a times we take photographs of weddings, birthdays and of family and friends. Some taken at night with very little light, some taken in blinding sunlight. There might be the best photo you have ever taken, hidden beneath that over blown image lying in your computer’s recycle bin.
At pholistic.com I want to provide an easy and affordable way for people to get the most out of their photographs.
